About Me
:
Having El Paso Trail shortlisted for the Text Novel 2010 competition is definitely the highlight of my year. I have also had a second story published in the literary anthology,  Canadian Voices and one of my novel is being considered by a publisher.

I started writing stories for other people when I was twelve. I lost my first novel in the women's washroom at Ryerson University. A year later I received my first rejection slip for another story. Being too sensitive for my own good, at the time, I didn't receive my second rejection slip until five years ago. My skin is thicker and my writing tighter, but it's still difficult to get published -- which makes me appreciate Text Novel all the more.

I hope you enjoy my stories on TextNovel.com and that you'll look at other stuff I've done:

  • BOOK LAUNCH FOR CANADIAN VOICES VOLUME 2: September 20, 2010 at the Supermarket Art Bar, Toronto. Legacy, a novel excerpt in the same series as Mystery Loves Company is included in the anthology.

  • Joey and the Turtle, an autobiographical story about dealing with my sister's death, in Canadian Voices Volume 1 (ISBN: 978-0-9784395-5-2). Available for order via Amazon and Chapters/Indigo. (Amazon has a great consumer review of the book that mentions my story.)

  •  National Crime Writing Month -- The Blog -- was started for the annual event run by Crime Writers of Canada. Canadian mystery and crime authors contributed vignettes about their detectives throughout May. Off-season, those authors and many others are posting blogs on how they write, their inspirations and sources.

In addition to being a freelance writer, editor and author,  I am past director of Crime Writers Canada and now manage publications for that organization. I am a member of Writers and Editors Network, and on the board of Action Read Adult Literacy Centre.
