I grew up in rural Africa, where books made up my world. I would read absolutely anything. But my favourites quickly became Romance Historicals and Regencies. When I discovered Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer (at varying times) I felt as if I had arrived.
It was a small step from there to wanting to write. I wrote a lot as a child but, to my critical eye, it was all derivative and I gave up - in disgust!
I have grown up and spent significant numbers of years in three wildly-different cultures - Sri Lankan, African, and Australian. I believe this has given me a unique perspective on life.
Once settled in Australia and working full-time I had very little time to pursue my writing dream. After the birth of my first child however, the itch began again. I enrolled in a highly-regarded part-time writing course at an Australian TAFE college, and so it has gone on. I own and operate a blog as my 'real self', have written a little poetry, and have had a couple of articles published - but best of all, I am working on my writing passion: historical romance!
I have currently deferred my writing studies as financial circumstances have dictated I return to my day job - in my other life, I am an I.T. geek.
Fortunately the actual writing goes on - thanks to an extremely supportive husband and family! I am pleased with how 'A Regency Adventure' (working title) is shaping up.
