I have always been completely indecisive when it came to choosing careers. I switched my major three times in college alone. I have dipped into a little of each, waiting tables, bartending, marine mammal training, administrative work, teaching, and recently - I am working at home writing television scripts & press releases and coordinating a variety of different projects for a television production company.
So many memories flashed before my eyes when I began to write for my new position. While in college, I attended a memorable speaking engagement with one of my favorite authors - Michael Chabon. While I had heard of his infamous Wonder Boys, I had never given his reading any thought or attention before.
For at least an hour, Michael had over 100 students' jaws to the floor as we all waited at the edges of our seats. It was an intense, ear-catching story that was extremely hard to believe, but it was the narrative of his bizarre and hardly believable life as he grew up.............or was it?
By the time his compelling words reached closing, all of us had been lured into his deception. We had just been given a summary, if you will from one of his previous books. It was a compelling feeling that I wished I could give to others. From that point on, I wanted to write.
So, bare with me because I am new at this. And if I get nothing else out of it other than enjoyment, at least I can say that I have conquered yet another part of my life that I have always wished I had done!
