The Calm Ensues

so the school year started

summer days departed

so much joy i would love to feel

but with school there comes a deal.

do my homework, pay attention

read my books with comprehension

Krystal take AP!

No it's very clear to see

that a college course

will give you the most force.

so between this great advice,

my lit teacher's torturing device,

AP homework overload

i can feel my brain explode!

even this i do not mind

but one small thing is left behind

textnovel i must for now leave

and this is time indeed to grieve

i will post whenever possible

but it simply is impossible!

so farewell my friends

until this oppression ends

but check back soon

for I will find a way.

hopefully before june,

before august anyway.

a collection of my random original poems... fun :) well anyway i originally hoped to post more often, but now school started so i really can't to much of anything. well anyway, enjoy what's here. they are random, i know, but i hope you like them. please comment and let me know what you think. all feedback is appreciated! :)

Chapter 1 : The Woes and Throes of A Rainy Day

Plip plop plitter platter
Hear the pretty raindrops smatter
Little puppy hides inside
Hoping for some grass that's dried

Hears a thin and tiny sqeak
Little puppy starts to seek
Plodding, dragging, and soon sees
A little mouse with his fat cheese

Puppy, mouse, fast friends become
Playing as the raindrops drum
Rolling, throwing, chasing tail
Racing, mouse as slow as snail

Plip plop plitter platter
Hear the pretty raindrops smatter
Thimble thump thet
the sun's not coming yet

Mother mouse calls out to baby
Time to come home, maybe
Leave poor puppy all alone
still the sun has never shone

Precious pup pines for his friend
Whines for friendship till the end
But the little mouse stays home
Claims his mommy went to Rome

Plip plop plitter platter
Hear the pretty raindrops smatter
Drumming, thrumming, pliff, ploof
Feel it falling on the roof

Plip plop plitter platter
Wait, not a raindrop to smatter!
Mouse forgotten right away
Little pup goes out to play

Poor little mouse,
Stuck inside the house

Chapter 2 : Midsummer Night's Dream

As I have been rereading midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare), this week's poem is a short poetry summary of the play. :)

For Egeus has come to Theseus with wrath
That his daughter chose a different path
He asks that she die or obey
She love Lysander til her dying day

A play to celebrate is planed
Six workmen in the woods now stand
Quince was asked to take the lead
But Bottom will not give him heed

Titania sweet fairy queen
Meets Oberon in this scene
Demetrius of Helena is not a fan
So Oberon hatches for them both a plan

Oberon has enlisted Puck
To help him change the travelers' luck
When Puck is done, there is an error
Meanwhile, Titania's sight's a terror

Titania wakes up to see
Bottom/Donkey standing by a tree
In love with him she falls
and out to him she calls

More mistakes are found,
Demetrius to Helena is bound
Helena does everyone now love
Hermia no longer above

Titania does on Bottom dote
The way the king planned and wrote
Then the spell is taken away
So Titania sees the light of day

A happy ending to the story
With Oberon in glory
they all fell for the right people
Theseus and Hypolita soon wed under a steeple

Where there are thorns
There is a rose
Where there is poetry
There's prose
When the dark hits
The light comes soon
When the storm passes
The calm ensues
From every burn
You can learn
From a little bit of pain,
You can always gain
Where there is sky
There will be sun
When you see the stars
Life has finally begun

i am super annoyed with someone today, and my irritation has led to this poem, which has led me to posting twice in one day. i'm sure you will forgive me. :)

Everywhere I look
i see you
Whispering wind waving the willows
Sandy shores stretching so far
lilies and lilacs lying low
paint pretty pictures for part
cats carry catnip to kittens
and asking around about apples
mute little mutt masking his mittens
ripping reaping ripe red roses
I see you
It's not a nice view

Chapter 5 : With No One Near

So, some of my friends read this, and some of them got it right away, and some of them didn't get it at all. I guess it depends on your frame of mind.

They watch with fear
Dare not come near
See the clear straight lines
But they ignore the signs

Argue, fight, but never win
They know to lose would be a sin
But still, I won't back off either
Impasse, so here we sit and wither

Painful phrases echo in my mind
Keep me in the past, behind
Everything around me starts to talk,
Till I have to stop, take stock

Whirring round just like a top
My thoughts convince me not to stop
But then I see your face
Again, we start the race

Dropping, hurting, metal falling
Find a reason to keep stalling
Accusations come from miles away
Just can't stand for it today

Bang! The gunshot sounds
But leaves still five more rounds
Found both me and her
To what you can infer

Now she's gone and I'm still here
All her memories I hold dear
Wish I could be with her now
And I would, if I knew how

I am a small bird today
trying hard to get away
But with my broken wing
I cannot fly, only sing

Find that it's almost over
Can't find my four-leaf clover
It left me here
with no one near

oh glorious release
pours downs my fist
my eyes start to mist

push the pain from my mind
out of my body, out of me
memories drip from my veins
close my eyes and count to three

the liquid down my throat
starts to affect my wild thoughts
i think i hear shots

where is it
where am i
here i am, here alone
here alone may i die

they sit above the water
dancing columns of flame
see them reflect
the pillars of gold
flickering dots recede
get thicker and thicker
in the water
then reflection ends
the logs begin
turn into flames
flickers and flares
that made the reflection
in the first place.

maybe
not just from the smoke
effects of the fire
refuse to wear off
dancing and licking the water
burning the air
burning my heart

Feeling healing all around
Rain

Rain
Strong, sweet
Dropping, drumming, resisting

Storm

Storm
Full, insistent
Pelting, pushing, prodding
Falling wind and water
Hurricane

Hurricane
Striking, forceful
Blowing, howling, crushing
Wish it were done
Storm

Storm
Cloudy, cold

Swishing, tumbling, passing
Feel it leaving soon
Rain

Dripping, tripping, pouring

Something strange here
Something I know not
Maybe worth the fear
Could be worth the thought

Swirling mists cloud over
Settle quietly around
Everything there is to cover
Rumors soon abound

Peer through pearly fog
Breathing quickens fast
Fall hard over log
See my present, future, past

Can't believe in what I see
Yet you can't discount what's there
It's all quite clearly me
But what I know, it's hardly fair.

How did I fall so hard
And change so much
Life split to shards
hate and pain and such

I wish I couldn't see
What came up in the mist
The shameful end of me
I know I won't be missed

to accept the truth
to realize what happened
and forgive me
to realize what happened
and move past
if you don't do it soon
if you don't understand
it will be too late
the sun and the stars and the moon
may still be here and there
and i won't be here for you
when you try to make amends
maybe you'll see
how hard it was for me
to accept who you were at first
to satisfy your thirst
and how hard i tried
to see you for real
but now you won't do
just this small thing for me
you won't use your eyes, your ears
to see past the lies
or the illusions
you just take what you get at the surface
you don't look for ties
because who can you hurt
only yourself after all
and just little old me
but that doesn't matter to you
after all
no it doesn't effect your hard fall
doesn't help you to see
what you're doing and its far reaching ends
your iron will never bends
not until you see what you've done
and then it's too late

it won't come back
i won't come back

But stay the same
The loss and fear
That you hold dear

The truth comes out
Just want to shout
Fair-weather friends
All odds and ends

Everyone’s returning
To find that you’re still mourning
You go to make amends
Just to find repeating trends

A civilized illusion
Ends all delusion
But still convinces you
To try something new

Talk about the pain
Wonder if he’s sane
Drive and drive
You soon arrive

Realize you’re scared
Senses more impaired
Tattoo leaves a scar
Get back in the car

Enter a palace of bright chrome
Pay out all of your own
Lose the play
Drive away

Ride in silence
Fight with violence
Past the limit
Hit the pivot

like with oscar wilde who once said
"the only thing worse than being talked about

it's that nagging itching feeling
while i'm staring at the ceiling
of that work i should be doing
work i meant to be pursuing
but so lazy and so tired
and my head so poorly wired
that i scarce can hardly think.

many things i should be trying
but instead i sit here prying
into this and that and those
and so trying not to doze
i am slacking from my work
as i stop postpone and shirk
and i sit and mold and blink.

so i try my hand at prose
see how badly that part goes
next to poetry i move
and this poem here to prove
that well instead of working
i am sitting here and smirking
at the paper pen and ink.

but that nagging itching feeling
be it paper, work, or ceiling
simply does not head my pleas
and so badly does it tease
that i feel i must begin
very much to my chagrin
set to work, my spirit sinks
