Chapter One
I took my usual spot on the classroom. The written-on desk looked old and worn, like most things around here. The constant metal screeches of chairs gave me my common but unwelcomed head ache. How I hated that sound. Plus, the chattering of the students didn't exactly ease it. Finally Salene came to her desk, which was conveniently located next to mine. Even though I hated the noise of the distant talk and gossip of the rest, whenever I was with Sal I couldn’t help but join in. The topic of interest in out talks changed constantly and when we where discussing a random event I caught a movement in the desk in front of Sal. Yes indeed, he had walked in. He casually sat down in his chair and turned around to briefly smile at us before he stood up to go join the symphony of voices. As much as it pained me to whiteness it his voice suddenly left the choir to quickly kiss his girlfriend. But that smile stuck to me even through the kiss.
God… that smile.
