She stands at the bow of the boat, her arms spread wide and her white dress flapping in the wind like a bird. The sea rages below the wooden bow, screaming and spiting at the pale girl. Her toes clench the edge of the boat, her eyes closed tightly against the whipping wind. With a single tear falling from her eye, she jumps into the churning sea. It envelopes her body in its watery embrace. She opens her mouth and lets the water fill her lungs, feels the water press against her and pull her down into its fathomable depths. The light slowly diminishes, as the surface gets further and further away. Suddenly strong arms surround her, pulling her leaden body to the surface. She fights weakly against that muscular chest. Crying quietly.
“I don’t want to be saved.” She whispers. Cold icy eyes turn to her face. But no words follow.
