Chapter 1:- Preferance

Preference

“Add that white pepper to the sassafras root and stand back Yonna.” She was quick this one a wonderful student. I couldn’t have made a better choice. She will carry on our legacy, our secret and our responsibility. She is all Yarrow. Yonna giggled when the brew made a cloud of purple smoke, in the shape of a teddy bear.

“Grandpa, can we read more stories”? Yonna asked, she is so inquisitive.

“Yes pumpkin, but keep in mind they are our history. Remember these stories and someday you will tell your children what I tell you now.”

Yonna was running for the books “Which one do you want?” she squealed.

“I don’t need a book dear, just your attention. We’ll make this quick and then go eat some supper,” I said as my stomach growled.

“So the story begins. A woman with the power to move things with her mind knew from an early age she had huge responsibilities. It was her destiny to fight an evil and save her family, possibly the world. She learned all she knew from her mother who had no power. You see the power only comes when it’s needed. The power is a gift handed down through the generations and doesn’t kindle until needed. All the knowledge and power waits for the right time. That woman was your Great Grandmother Yonna, my mother Edna Yarrow. Edna’s family power will come again when it’s needed. Too ensure future generations are safe she wrote stories and taught me so I could teach you.”

Helen interrupted with a holler “Murry, Yonna get in here and eat.”

“Ok let’s go pumpkin Grandma is callin, we’ll finish the story tomorrow.”
