Chapter 1:- Freshman!

  Tuesday, September 7

I could tell that my first day of high school was going to be horrible.  For as long as I can remember I have been just down right unlucky.

My first day of high school started out better then most of my first day of school experiences.  My alarm went off at the right time, Lora didn't take as long as I thought she would in the bathroom, and Jennah even offered to drive Lora and me to school.  As Jennah pulled onto the road that the high school was off of I decided to unbuckle my seat belt so I would be ready when we arrived at school.  Well lucky me, a police office happened to be right at the end of the school's driveway and noticed that I wasn't wearing a seat belt. He pulled us over and gave Jennah a ticket.  Then she said, "Kari Marie Fender I am never driving you to school again! And I expect YOU to pay this stupid seat belt ticket.  You and your big ideas," she bellowed and drove up the driveway to the high school.

Once we pulled up in front of the high school I was already lost!  For some reason I'm, the only one in my family that doesn't have a sense of direction, so I was afraid of what would happen the second I pushed one of the front doors open.

"Go to the gym and there are tables set up with your class schedules on them," Jennah explained mostly to Lora.  I nodded my head and was about to thank Jennah but she gave me the dirtiest look on the planet so I scowled back.

"Where's the gym?" I asked Lora as we walked from the senior parking lot to the school.  She ran her french manicured nails through her perfectly straight long brown hair and adjusted her super mini skirt.

"Listen to me Kari, you are going to make me look like a loser if I walk into this school with you.  That's the only reason why I'm telling you where the gym is.  Okay, so you walk in the front doors and it's on your right hand side," she explained and scanned the crowd at the front doors.

"Lora wait!" I called as she disappeared into the group of popular girls.  I watched in disgust as her boyfriend, Ace Leighton, wrapped his arm around her.  What I don't understand is this: Why do freshman's need BOYFRIENDS?!?!  I mean look at me, I'm pretty much normal and I'm doing perfectly fine without one!  Okay, maybe normal isn't the best adjective to use when I'm being talked about... but that's not the point.  What I'm trying to say is that I, along with many high school freshman do not need to rely on a boyfriend to take care of me.  But Lora along with my enemy (Lora's best friend), Kendra Davis do rely on male companions for some strange reason.
