Chapter 1:- The Awakening

I stared down at Trip for a long moment, his eyes holding conflicted emotions. I knew he would need blood immediately, and I didn't exactly want to be lunch to a newborn who wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a full grown vampire and a human.

I began to back away from him, planning on heading to my blood stash that I kept in my closet. Trip twitched slightly before his body shot up on the bed, knocking me to the floor.

The good news? I was closer to the closet.

The bad news? The fall had hurt!

A popular myth was that vampires really didn't feel much pain. This, I sadly admit, is wrong. At least for teenaged vampires like myself. I wouldn't bruise or anything, but the slam to the ground had hurt a lot for a moment.

I crawled to the closet, just barely getting my left hand around a sports bottle filled with blood, when Trip grabbed my leg. I turned back, looking at his face. He snarled, showing small fangs that would not be of full length for a few years. Baby fangs. If he hadn't been snarling, I might have said how cute they were.

I threw the bottle his way, knowing that he would smell the blood. I was right. He released my leg immediately, letting it fall to the floor ontop of the other leg.

"Ow?"

He didn't pay attention to me, but continued guzzling the blood from the bottle. I could just barely make out a trace of blood running down his chin.

After a few more slow, agonizing seconds, he lowered the bottle. His eyes had very clearly lightened, and he smiled a nervous smile. "Jenetta...?"

He couldn't see me on the floor. He probably hadn't even known where the blood bottle had come from, only that there was blood. When young vampires were hungry, they only worried about satisfying their hunger, not about where the blood came from.

"Down here," I groaned, rubbing my leg. His grip had most definitely left a mark.

His eyes widened, jumping off the bed, and tripping in the process. In our heat of passion and vampire-turning, we hadn't exactly had time to put our clothes back on. My shirt was still over in the corner, and his pants were undone, causing him to trip on the loose bottoms.

I snorted. "Grace will return to you, young Padowan." I had always been a Star Wars geek.

I had expected him to sneer at my remark, but he only smiled. "I'm...a vampire."

"Yeah, of some sort. You aren't going to be able to control yourself when you're hungry for while, and your fangs won't expand past their current size for a few years. You're like...a baby vamp."

He cringed. "Sexy."

I laughed, merely replying, "In time."

He scooted over to me and kissed my lips, pulling me into him. I could taste some of the blood left in his mouth, and my tongue eagerly lapped it up. He began to reach for my bra clasp, just as he had moments ago, but I stopped him.

"What?" he wondered, tilting his head in confusion.

I remembered my fourth birthday. I had begun to smell and crave blood, and after gaining my fangs, I didn't remember much, except for my bloodlust. "You won't rememebr the next twenty four hours, at least, because your mind and body need time to accept the change."

He sighed, obviously dissapointed. "Don't worry. We've waited this long. What's another twenty four hours?" I asked.

He smiled. "I give, I give."

He yawned, getting up from the floor. "But, is a nap out of the question?"

I smiled up at him. "Not at all."

He pulled me up, dragging me into bed with him. I reached down and buttoned his pants.

"Really?" he asked, smacking his forhead.

I reached down to the floor, grabbing my shirt. "Yes." I pulled the shirt over my head. "My door may be locked, but it wouldn't hold them long. And I certainly wouldn't want them to find us in such a...ummm....compromising state."

He groaned, pulling me into an embrace. I settled my head against his chest and laughed.

"What?" he wondered, smiling down at me.

"Your heart doesn't know what to do. It's stuttering." I didn't really find it all that funny, but I knew he really wanted this.

He just kissed my hair, quickly falling asleep with his head leaning on the top of mine, and my head on his chest.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 "Jenetta!"

Oh shit! I could hear my Dad, one of the oldest and strongest vampires out there, was bangng on my door. At least he was trying to respect my privacy.

I climbed out of bed, careful not to wake Trip. I glanced at the clock and saw that we had only been asleep for about an hour. Good. No one would suspect anything.

I opened the door, quickly closing it behind me as I went out into the hall. "Yes?"

"What are you two up to?" he asked, his fatherly instincts coming out.

I snorted, opening the door a crack to let him see Trip. "Sleeping."

My Dad smiled faintly, then it faded. "Why does it sm-"

"I just ate. He was asleep, and I didn't want him to see me consume blood, so I took the oppurtunity while he was off in dreamland."

My Dad nodded, obviously believing what I had said.

I didn't know why, but soemthing inside me didn't want my family to know about Trip being a vampire quite yet. I wasn't sure how my family would react, but that wasn't what really scared me. It was his family.

The Van Helsings had been around since the dawn of the first vampire, Dracula. I was a Dracula, and Trip was a Van Helsing. We had haetd each other when we first met, but because of our irresistible attraction to each other, we began to hate less and love a whole lot more.

Still, I didn't know how Trip's family would react to the news of their vampire-hunting son becoming a creature of the night. My guess? Not very well.

"Well, we're going out for a hunt. Stay here with him for protection," Dad said.

I tilted my head "Who's the protection here? Me or him?"

"Hopefully neither of you." His eyes darkened. "And I don't want to have any other sort of protection in this house either."

I couldn't help but cringe at that one. True, vampires together couldn't reproduce. My mom was a total human. Still, sperm could enter our systems and cause diseases if the person we were with had some kind of HIV or something. This could also effect as through blood.

My sister had taken excessive amounts of blood from a mon with AIDS, and she had times where she would be very sick. The disease couldn't kill her exactly, but it would cause some serious damage.

I was fairly positive that Trip didn't have any diseases. I thought this because...

A) He sure seemed like he knew what he was doing in bed. He must have been sexing up some other girls before me, and I don't think he would do that if he had some kind of disease.

B) He would have told me if he had one.

I nodded to my Dad, feeling totally violated. I knew he probably had some idea about what was going on. He had known that Trip and I had been doing some hard core making out before we told everyone -made a spectical of ourselves- that we were together.

He walked down the hallway and to the stairs, not looking back. I sighed heavily, heading back into my room. Trip was awake-ish and smiling. "What's up, babe?"

"Oh nothing. We just have a lot of junk up ahead."
