This is my dream: to see Angel of the Five Heavenly Kings smile at me. My new friend Hana can make that dream a reality. Like me, she idolizes the Five Heavenly Kings. And she is determined to make their leader, Hyesung, recognize her. No matter what it takes. As I follow Hana, I can see recognition in Angel's eyes. But he isn't smiling at me...
Foreword/Preface
This story is directly inspired by the wonderful and often crazy phenomenon of Asian idol groups and the intensely loving fans who follow them. I am a fan of such idol groups myself. More so than Hollywood stars and other Western celebrities, they appear basically perfect: good-looking, talented (or passably so), charming, always kind and polite no matter what criticism or harsh treatment may come their way. But because they aren't allowed to show their bad side, there's always something unreal about them. I can't help but wonder, what's on the other side of the sparkle? And what about the admiring fans who devote all their hopes and dreams to these idols that they might never get to even touch? What happens when reality shatters their castles in sky?
I will try to write this story as a cell-phone novel because the format intrigues me. Try being the operative word--I’ve always written stories with very long chapters. So now, writing chapters limited to 1,000 characters (my own mobile phone's limit) will be my challenge to myself. I will update every weekday, barring unusual circumstances. For sure, simply writing short chapters does not make a cell-phone novel, but I'm hoping to get a better grasp of the format as I continue to write. Please critique and offer suggestions. Thank you.
