Chapter 1:- Prologue
I loathe this cold weather, Nina thought as she walked down the empty streets of mid November. If only there was something...
“Stop Henry,” a girl yelled. She was chasing a boy. “If you pull my hair one more time, I swear I’ll kill you.”
“Yeah okay,” the boy, Henry, said and ran away. The girl took off her shoe and threw it at him, but missed.
The girl groaned and turned, catching Nina looking at her. “What are you looking at,” she shouted.
Nina smiled. “Nothing, my darling.”
“Then turn around and walk off,” she said walking down the street. She’s perfect, just wonderful.
She caught up with the girl within seconds. “Hello, darling,” she greeted. The girl turned, startled to see Nina right next to her.
“What do you want,” she asked narrowing her eyes.
“Nothing, just want to talk, darling,” Nina answered.
“Ew, stop calling me darling and why are you talking with that Old English accent,” the girl asked crossing her arms.
“Oh, you know the Old English accent,” Nina said sharply.
“Yeah, you sound like Juliet,” she said.
“Juliet,” Nina repeated, confused.
“Romeo and Juliet,” the girl said, making a face.
Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s play, the dumb true love one. “Must I say, I sound like one,” Nina asked.
“Yeah, stranger,” she snorted.
Her manner is such disgrace. What was that word, again? Discreet; she has a discreet manner. Modern English.
“Why was that boy bothering you,” Nina asked trying to change the subject.
“Mind your own beeswax,” the girl snapped.
Beeswax, what kind of word is that? “Oh let me guess, you don’t know what beeswax means,” she said.
Nina nodded. “It means mind your own business,” the girl said.
Ah, I must stay in the trend. “So may I ask again why that little boy was bothering you,” Nina said.
“Because he likes me,” the girl answered flipping her blond lengthy hair.
“Oh, he likes you, then why is he bothering you,” Nina asked confused.
“Are you serious,” she said. “Did you come from the Ice Age?”
Ice Age, no definitely after, way after.
“Well, see boys just try to get girls attention by disturbing them, so the girls actually notice them. That’s why Henry is picking on me everyday,” the girl said proudly.
Girls, these days.
“Why am I even telling you this. You’re a stranger,” the girl said. “BTW, I’m going home, so you should go home too, it’s getting pretty late.”
BTW, what does that means? Seems like I have a long way to go.
“What you don’t know what BTW means? It means by the way,” she retorted. Nina nodded and smile. “Why are you smiling like that? It’s freaky.”
“You’re right. It is getting quite dark,” Nina said.
“Yeah, mom would be worry about be if I won’t be home soon,” she said walking away from Nina.
Not so fast, little girl.
Nina stopped right in front of her. “What is thy name?”
The girl laughed. “You’re funny.”
“Thee name, please,” Nina asked politely.
“Mommy told me not to tell strangers your name,” she said. She was shivering, which made her even more appealing.
“But I’m not a stranger,” Nina said. “I’m here to help you.”
“Help me. How are you going to help me,” the girl asked.
“If thee must not tell thy name then I must not ask anymore, for I have something more to do,” Nina said taking her hands out of her pocket.
“What are you doing,” the girl asked. She was frightened; Nina sensed it and she was enjoying it.
“You are the unlucky one tonight,” Nina said as her fangs lowered.
“Mom—,” the girl tried to scream, but it was too late. Nina dug hungrily into the girl’s neck until she couldn’t struggle anymore and was finally silent. She let the girl’s body fall to the ground and listened as someone stepped out.
“Molly,” a lady called at the doorsteps. “Molly.”
So her name is Molly.
“I’m sorry, Molly,” Nina whispered watching as blood seeped out from the wound. “Forgive thee.”
And disappeared into the dark.
