People are sometimes born into times they wish they hadn't been born into. Perhaps they are born into time of many wars and violence. Perhaps they are born into very bad economic times. These are all very good reasons to think one hasn't exactly been lucky in terms of the time period of his or her birth.
Most babies born in Lorita's time were the luckier ones. Everyone was rather happy; people had grown quite tired of having wars, people all had reasonable amount of money in their pockets, and there was no drought or flood or earthquake or fire. Kids the same age as Lorita grew up to appreciate how fortunate they had been, though some of the greedier ones did wish they lived in the time of Shakespeare or Elvis Presley.
Lorita didn't care for Shakespeare or Elvis Presley, but she did wish she had been born in a different time. Perhaps a time when her questions were better answered. Probably a time when people visited rivers more, and probably had better hearing and less mental strength.
Lorita was a Nixe.
