Chapter 10:- A proper goodbye
With her visit’s purpose fulfilled, Mara turned to leave. Father Garrison followed her back out into the nave. “Someday, you will learn to say a proper goodbye,” he chided.
Mara stopped and looked back at him. Only the speckled grey of his hair and fine lines under his eyes gave away his age, leaving the rest of him as powerful and passionate as a much younger man. His commanding presence held her in place even though her eyes were on the door. “Sorry,” she said, and it was with feeling. “It’s time to attend to my duties. Can’t be late.”
