Chapter 109:- Judith II
Mara knelt by Judith’s pew, brushing hair out of her closed eyes. Despite the stress of the earlier part of the day, her sleeping face was untroubled. The pew looked uncomfortable. Mara put her face close to Judith’s ear. “Judith?” No response. “Judith.” Her voice echoed off the vaulted ceiling. Mara dared to tap her hand. Judith took a heavy sigh through her nose and moved her hand. She looked so peaceful, and Mara’s eyelids were heavy too. She sighed and lowered her forehead to the warm wood of the pew.
She felt Judith shift into a sitting position. “Mara?”
