Chapter 149:- Father Garrison's lover
“Priests of our denomination are free to marry whoever they choose,” Judith said, her voice singsong. She donned a mismatched pair of quilted mitts and opened the oven door to release a blast of chocolaty scent. “I’ve seen the way he looks at you.”
Mara stood, approaching Judith and the kitchen. “I’m promised to God. When I’m too old to patrol as a chosen Sister, I’ll go be a nun and marry Him properly.”
“And Father Garrison?”
Mara’s cheeks burned. “He wouldn’t be interested in me.”
“Why not? He’s forty and unmarried. You don’t think he craves a lover?”
“No!”
