“Just one,” Mara insisted.
Judith laughed. “All right. One.” Mara brought the box out to Judith on the bench and they moved out of the cooler shadow to sit in the grass of the garden in the fading light with the box of chocolates between them. Judith took a sliver of chocolate shell between her teeth and held it in her mouth to melt. She smiled over at Mara. “I did bring you some things.” She zipped the bag open and dug in, withdrawing handfuls of tangled, multicolor yarn. “Jessica made it sound like you didn’t know how to knit.”
