“If I were you,” Mara said, slow and thoughtful, “I would leave.”
Judith folded her hands over her waist. “Why? I’m better off here than ever before. I have friends and family here.”
“Don’t you want to live somewhere with you agree with the ideology of the church?”
She snorted. “Finding a new church is the last thing on my to-do list, sweetie.” She tilted her head to inspect the starry sky. “Finding a new country would be first. But this is getting dangerously into the things we agreed not to talk about.”
“This is hypothetical,” Mara insisted. “It’s different.”
