Haven't finished reading it yet, but like it a lot! Please check out my zombie book! It's very different from yours, but I would love to get your honest feedback on what I've got so far. Any other recommendations for a first-time writer such as myself? Also, do you think the zombie fiction genre is better labeled as horror or supernatural?.

I love this story and how it's written. It definitely reminds me of classic novelists but your descriptions are much easier to understand and the story has a much better pace. .

Congratulations! This story has been selected as a Semi-Finalist in the 2009 Textnovel Writing Contest at http://www.textnovel.com. We pick Semi-Finalists based on popularity, writing quality, adherence to Contest rules, originality and publishing potential. An additional star has been placed next to your Story Title and a 2009 Semi-Finalist award logo has been added to your Story Detail page – feel free to use that logo anywhere you’d like to announce your selection.
The current Textnovel Contest ends on August 31st, 2009. At the end of that period, the Textnovel Editorial Board will choose 10 Finalists (including up to one “wild card” that doesn’t come from the Semi-Finalists). So we are going to be watching closely while you have the opportunity to:
--Publish new chapters, edit and update existing chapters and take any other steps to make sure your story meets the 20 chapter minimum and is as well-written as possible by August 31st;
--Take whatever steps you feel are appropriate to increase exposure, readership and votes to demonstrate the market potential of your story; we encourage you to blog about the fact that your story is a Semi-Finalist, use other marketing tools such as Twitter and the Textnovel Invite Tool from the My Library page to invite your friends (you can import your entire address book) to become a fan of and vote for your story or follow you. All of these move you up in the rankings and increase the chances that you'll get noticed and have a shot at becoming a Finalist and possibly winning the Grand Prize.
Sincerely,
Textnovel.com Editorial Team

I absolutely love your short description! I hope you never change it! Also, I have to agree with Ed Osprey. The Classic Novel + Zombies idea is fantastic! .

On a remote island, either you use your brains to survive, or the zombies will survive on your brains. Inspired by Daniel Defoe & Jules Verne.

Chapter 39:- ...
Captain Raja raced across the salon, as did I. In the brief time it took to traverse the space, I wondered where my loyalty lay, given the task in hand and the threat to the world.
