Chapter 61:- Vacation Ends
It was eight long days later that the power was restored. In that time, I spent a lot of time on the beach, because after the hurricane passed, we were blessed with perfect, sunny weather in the 80s. It would have been thoroughly enjoyable – if it were possible to, say, take a hot shower or read in the evening. Overall though, the vacation far surpassed my expectations, because due to the lack of power, there wasn’t much we could do that wasn’t lazing on the beach, so I was left almost entirely to my own devices. Anyway, it was 14 days that we had spent in Florida, and then, thank goodness, the airport got power back and started running at full power again, and our flight was rescheduled. We arrived home late on Monday night. I was thoroughly depressed to realize that I had to go back to school.
Still though, I was a little more ready for school after 14 days to myself. It didn’t make up for missing summer, but I was a more mentally prepared. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself. If I told myself I could handle it enough times, it would eventually become true, right?
