Chapter 69:- Chapter 12 (Part 2)
“Rachel, is that you?” he yelled out, still a way’s from the entrance to the cave.

Far up ahead, the outline of a young girl stood. Running faster he tried his best to shorten the distance between them, eventually nearing her.

“It is you,” he said smiling.

“Hi Seth,” she smiled back.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“I was admiring the sunset and your town,” she replied.

“Oh,” he said looking out where she was gazing, “It’s a nice evening tonight.”

“Mhmm,” she said calmly.

“So um, was your town damaged by the winds?” he asked.

“Yea, yours was too?” she asked looking at him.

“Yea, a lot of homes got wrecked,” he replied, “The town came together to help rebuild them though.”

“Same,” she replied.

“Listen, I need to talk to you about something, alright?” Seth said, breaking the tranquil scene.

“Alright,” she replied.

Together they walked back into the cave, the cool air blowing outside calmly.

“What is it?” she asked.

“Well, how do I put this,” he sighed, “How do I know that anything you have told me is true?”

“Huh? What are you talking about?” she asked confused.

“I only know what you tell me, because you told me,” he replied, “It’s almost no different than before. I am still being told what your town is like, what the other side is. I haven’t seen it for myself.”

“Well then, why don’t you?” she asked puzzled.

“Huh?” he now asked just as perplexed.

“Why not come down to my side of the mountain?” she asked smiling wide.

“Wait…you mean…actually go down together?” he gulped.

“Yea, sure, why not,” she giggled.

“But…I mean…” he began.

“What a great way to prove to my whole town the truth. As soon as they get to know you, we can put those silly rumors to rest, and you’ll be convinced that what I have told you is true as well,” she replied.

“I guess…that does sound good…” he replied still in thought.

“And then I can visit your side as well afterwards,” she added brightly.

“Alright, that does sound good,” he nodded.

“I’m also unsure as to how long we can keep our meetings a secret anyways, my friend is catching on,” she said.

“Same,” he remarked.

“Good, then it’s decided,” she grinned.

“But um, when should we do it?” he asked.

She thought for a moment, “How about next week, same time?”

“But it’ll have to be longer than a day. Something like this would need several day’s, right?”

“Yea,” she nodded.

“That’s going to be the hardest and toughest sale of my life to give to my parents,” he sighed deeply, distressed by even the thought of attempting such a thing.

The sun slowly set in the distance, its orange glow casting a beautiful haze across the sky. The two sat quietly, watching.

“My father…” Seth began.

“What about him?” she asked.

“Well, he, um, he’s of the opinion right now, as are many, that the strange events happening are happening because of you, well I mean, that is to say, the demons on the other side of the mountain,” his eye’s lowered.

“Oh?” she replied lowering her voice.

“Yea, he, um, at dinner time, he said…” Seth struggled for the words, “He said that if they kept up, he would be sure that it was because of the demons and that…and that he couldn’t keep ignoring them…that he would…that he and everyone would wage war against them.”

“War?!” exclaimed Rachel shocked.

“That’s what he said, but this week has been calm, and thing have settled down, and his opinion has changed a bit,” Seth continued, his head and eye’s now looking at the orange hew spread across the sky.

“To be honest, there have been similar people in my town as well,” she began, “They also have been hassling my father regarding it, but he’s not as convinced.”

Seth stood, walking to the end of the cave that looked out on Rachel’s side of the mountain. Rachel followed suit, walking nearby him.

“So, where’s that stream you mentioned your friend’s come to?” he asked.

“You remembered?” she remarked.

“Of course,” he smiled.

“Right over there,” she pointed out a ways, “It’s hard to see now that it’s dark.”

“I’m going to look forward to going next week,” he said smiling, “I can’t wait to meet your friends and to see your town.”

“I’m glad, I can’t wait too,” she let out a light laugh.

“Hungy?” he asked.

“A little.”

“Same, want to eat a little together?” he asked.

“Yea, sure.”

Walking towards the middle, the rising moon in sight, they opened their satchels, taking out their food to eat. Quietly they ate, silent for a while.

“Did you ever doubt me?” she asked.

“No,” he replied, “It was merely a thought.”

“Good,” she replied, “Please don’t ever doubt me.”

“Ok, I won’t,” he replied.

The two continued to eat quietly with one another, the darkness of night having already mostly covered the earth. The soft soothing sound of a light wind blowing echoed through the cave.

After having eaten, the two sat together as they had several times already, with their backs against the wall. As the two stared out on the moon, Rachel spoke.

“Um, Seth,” she asked.

“What is it?” he asked.

“Do you have a girl you like in your town? A special girl?” she asked.

“Ugh,” Seth blushed, “I…um…no.”

“Oh, ok,” she replied calmly.

“What about you? Do you have a boy who’s special to you?” he asked.

“Um, no,” she replied meekly.

“Oh,” he remarked, somehow strangely feeling glad.

Silence engulfed the cave once again, the darkness of night consuming the two. Everything was peaceful. For once, there were no roaring winds, no terrible storm, only calming peace.

“I’m feeling sleepy,” she remarked.

“Me too,” he yawned.

Suddenly he felt an extra weight lay on his shoulder. Looking over in that direction he gazed at Rachel’s sleeping head. He smiled, his face red with blood. Closing his eyes, he too rested his head slightly in that direction.
