Chapter 1:- The Meeting
Lexie Williams stood in the rain and mist on the corner of her long drive way waiting for the bus. School was never fun, but it was better than staying at home. She pulled her thin jacket closer to her body, it didn't help much. The woods surrounding her house and driveway were quiet, the rain hitting the leaves the only sound. Wow, my life is just fantastic. Lexie stood for a while longer and then decided to sit of an old stump facing the woods. I wonder if mom's still passed out? I bet she is. Not even the sound of a sonic boom would wake her up. Just another perfect day in my life. No friends, lunch alone, and of course, coming home to a drunk mother who couldn't even function. What a... A quiet growl brought her from her thoughts. Looking around her, Lexie couldn't find the source of the sound. It's nothing you're just freaking yourself out! Just then something rustled in the trees and Lexie found herself staring into the eyes of an animal. She couldn't see it clearly due to the rain and mist, but it was huge. Just then the bus pulled up and trudging through mud, Lexie made her way to the bus. Sitting down by herself int he back of the bus, she looked out the window trying to see something, anything.
The bell was ringing just as Lexie made it to her locker. Having made it through the crowds of people to her classroom, she opened the door and watched as every set of eyes in the room turned to look at her. "The bus was late Mr. Tate," she spoke quietly. He just nodded and told her to take her seat. The rest of class was a blur. Having heard nothing the teacher said, she figured it was no big deal anyway. Her morning classes continued and she was missing everything. Lexie just wanted the day to end. The lunch bell rang at the end of her fourth hour. She was the last person out the door and the only one in the hallways. Lexie was looking down as she walked around a corner and slammed into someone chest hard. "Ugh!" The cry was echoed in both Lexie's and the other person's voice. Lexie landed hard on her butt and looked over at the other person. What she saw made her speechless.
