Chapter 11:- What...?
At lunch break today, once again, Ryo came to join me. This time however we didn't hang around my friends and the cafeteria we went straight to the little park. We ate lunch there.
"So...How is it to live in a house alone?" I asked to start a conversation.
"Well, in a way it's nice. I don't need to follow rules, I set my own. But on the other hand no one's there to help me if I need it and I'm constantly alone and get bored." he answered looking in the distance.
"Yeah, it must be really lonely. Last night, remember I told you I was alone at home? Well, that was just one night and already I felt really lonely and bored. I can't imagine what it must be like for a longer period of time..." I looked at him, he was really handsome, now that I paid more attention to him, I noticed he looked so perfect.
"But wasn't your sister at home at that time? I mean it was pretty late..."
"Oh, yeah..." I had to tell him. It was a little lie, yet it was so heavy to keep the truth from him. "Well, to tell you the truth, she's not my sister." I waited for a reaction.
"I thought so." Was all he said. I turned to him surprised.
"You knew?" I asked, he nodded.
"You said that to protect her right?"
"Yeah. I mean I'm still a bit like a big sister to her..." I stopped, if I didn't I would be explaining something that wouldn't have made sense. I looked at Ryo. He was already looking at me intently. But he didn't say anything.
"Are you angry?" I asked looking him in the face.
"No I'm amazed you actually told me. I thought you would try to keep it from me. So you're starting to trust me are you?" he chuckled. I didn't understand what was funny. He saw my reaction and smiled at me.
"How about we walk together again after school?" he asked.
"Um, sure." I was speachless. He reacted so coolly. I smiled. I couldn't help it. When he smiled I had to as well. He looked at his watch.
"Let's get back to calss, we don't want to be late." he got up. When I was about to get up he extended his hand. I looked at him. He wasn't joking. I took it and he helped me up.
We were walking next to each other silently. I was enjoying the early cherry blossoms. Soon it would be the blooming season. Our lunch break seemed to have passed so fast. Ryo opened the door to our classroom and walked in. I followed him only to be jumped upon by Kamiko.
"Where were you during lunch?!" she asked she was pretending to be very serious. I had to laugh. She looked at me questioningly.
"What's so funny?"
"You are!" I kept laughing. It had been a while since I felt so light. For some reason, today had been a nicer day than usual. Then the teacher came in just as Kamiko was about to ask what I'de been doing, again. I felt relieved. What could I tell her? I was going against my own rules. And she probably had to find some other people to hang out with during lunch. I felt bad.
My phone vibrated in my pocket. I took it out discreetly and opened it under my desk. It was a message from Ryo.
"I'm inviting you to my house this evening. Will you come with me?" My heart was beating fast. I re-read the message to make sure I hadn't read it wrong. What should I answer?! I tried to not look over to Ryo but it was difficult. What did he have in mind? No, he doesn't like you in that kind of way Mizuki. Then could he want to... No! He would not do anything to hurt her. Would he? I opened a blank message and typed in my answer. I knew it was a risk but I would be careful...
