Chapter 4:- It
It stared at me.
It's big blue-white eyes had an intelligent glow to them.
I stared at it cautiously, trying to figure out exactly what it was. It was big, like a horse, same basic shape. It had hooves like one, too. But the rest... the rest was completely different. It had black fur that resembled a cat's. It was a pure black that was stunning. Its ears were like a cats, too. Or maybe i should say panther or a leopard, because no house cat has big ears like these. And it had fangs! Fangs!
Its face was like a normal horse's except for the big eyes. They were much bigger than a regular horse's eyes should be but somehow they didn't look out of place on its face. And they were a bright blueish-white color that stood out against its black fur.
So, basically, a big cat/horse was staring at me and I was trying to figure out if it was going to attack me. Or eat me. And trying not to do anything so I wouldn't have to find out.
Then suddenly it moved. I cringed. It nudged me with its muzzle. I stumbled back a tiny bit, surprised. It stared rubbing its head against my arm. I planted my feet in the dirt, trying not to get pushed back when it stopped for a second. It took a step back and stared and me again. Then it opened its mouth and--started panting! It looked dog-like, with its big tongue hanging out. Then it closed its mouth. It came closer and started rubbing my arm gently with its muzzle.
Cautiously, I reached up and patted its head. Its fur was so soft. Like ten times more SOFT than the softest thing you could imagine. It was so soft that I partially forgot my fear and continued petting it. I stared at it and saw its ears flick back then towards me again. I smiled a little, unbelieving and awed.
After a while I heard a sound. It was like a soft rumbling. What's that noise?, I wondered.
Suddenly, I laughed as I realized where it was coming from. My fear disappeared completely.
The cat-horse was purring.
I moved around it rubbing her neck as I looked more closely at it. Well, firstly it was a girl so I'm going to start calling it she. She was even more beautiful up close. Her fur was so black, it had a blue sheen. It had a mane-like thing, but instead of hair, the fur grew longer and stood up. Kind of like a mini mo-hawk. I lightly brushed my fingers over it then down her spine. She was sturdy and strong. I could feel her muscles under her skin. Her legs were thicker than a normal horses but had the same basic structure. Her hooves were pure white. Like paper white and surprisingly clean. Her tail was like a cat's but the fur grew a lot longer there than on the rest of her body.
All in all, she was absolutely stunning.
After studying her for quite a while, I began to remember that I had other things to worry about. I couldn't spend all my time admiring her. I had to figure out where I was.
With that thought, I got scared and confused. There were no animals like this on Earth. Unless someone secretly began mutating animals or mated a panther with a horse. The second on was unlikely and even the first was a bit out there. But what other explanation was there? Had I become a part of some experiment?
I quickly pushed that thought out of my head. That was impossible. Right?
God, I hated this, I thought suddenly becoming angry.
