Penelope bunny was wandering around the warren, restless and bored. Even in Bunny land, it was clearly a mans world. Peter and the other boy bunnies had important work. Peter was this years elected Easter Bunny by a vast majority beating Claude who had gone to ground in a huge sulk. She knew how he felt, but at least he could run for office. She was chief cook and carrot washer, and that was it. She and the other girl bunnies got to colour the eggs but it was the Easter Bunny, a guy who got top honours every year.  She was just about to enter her home in the warren after a busy day of egg coloration and inspection when Dave Bunny came hopping frantically toward her.

"Penny, Penny, Penny you must help!  Peter was in the yard working out for the world wide sprint next week and he broke a paw."

"Oh no, how awful, Penny thought a minute. Wait, I can do it!”

"Do what?"

"Deliver the eggs Dave. I can be the Easter bunny."

Dave let out a guffaw, "Seriously, I was just coming to ask you to set the poor lads paw. Good joke though, the guys will appreciate the laugh but right now we need you to help the boy as he is in pain.

"Well he can suffer until I get council to approve an ad hoc appointment as Easter bunny."

Dave, seeing that Penny meant what she said, agreed to argue her case to the council, as an emergency substitute in this case. Claude had been asked but was still in a snit and had promptly told them where to shove their precious eggs. All the other guys where busy with planting and various jobs. He saw that Penny was the alternative or Easter was not going to happen.

"Ok fine Penny. I can put it through as we are clearly stuck between an egg and a hard place. I am sure in this case, council will let it fly but come on Peter needs your help.

Well to conclude things quickly let me tell you. Penny went to council herself after deftly setting and wrapping Peters paw and getting his personal endorsement. She was given the job. She argued that women could get the eggs delivered without asking directions. She pointed out vast improvements that could be made to the system and was anxious to try them out. As Peter was so happy that billions of children wouldn't be disappointed, he gave a hearty thumbs up to the idea that equality be given to all Rabbits to be elected regardless of their gender.

Eggs were delivered swiftly in an organized manner and Penny was a heroine.
