Chapter 1:- Market Day
Once upon a time, there was a young man named Willy.
Willy lived in a small house, just outside of the The Royal City. Willy spends his time farming on the land around his home and takes his harvest into the City to sell.
He is very happy and lives a good life.
One day, as Willy is taking a load of strawberries into the city, he meets a witch.
She seems to be a kind person, so Willy stops to talk.
“Hello young man!”
“Hello…” Willy calls back.
He walks over to her.
“Young man,” she says with a crackly, old voice, “I can give you a magic stick, if you give me all of the strawberries that you have.”
Willy thinks about it. He really doesn’t need a magic stick. He’s happy just to be a farmer.
“No, dear old lady. I don’t need that magic stick. Besides, if I give you the strawberries, the King and Queen will have none for their party.”
Then, the old witch changes and starts acting mean.
“Well, if you won’t give me your berries, I’ll turn you into a monster. No one will buy your berries then. You’ll be too ugly!”
Willy really did not believe the old witch and he turned to walk away. He was late to the market and the King’s chef would be mad.
Just then, the old witch shook her magic stick at him.
Willy could feel a tingle going up his leg and into his head. He got sick and had to lay on the ground.
