Chapter 1:- The news
The text message said; Please come see me! I need my mommy! I thought at first she was having domestic issues with the live in boyfriend and she just wanted to vent.
I did what every mom did and made arrangements to go see her in the city she was living in. She and her significant other had moved to a bigger City as they felt there were more opportunities than where we had been for the last 11 years. She is 6 months short of being 20; something she dreads by the way.
I also thought she could be gravely ill and didn't want to tell me via cell phone.
I boarded a bus and met her. We were going to have lunch and talk about things.
Not two minutes after we decided on a plan of action. "Mom sit down.
I have something to tell you and I don't want you to fall." So I did.
"Okay, what's up?"
"I'm pregnant!"
Okay thats one thing I hadn't considered as a possibility. Much better than the C word or the A word. But the P word coming out of my daughters mouth still surprised me.
"Alright, so what are you going to do about it?
"I don't want to but I think I have to terminate. I am only seven weeks along. We really can't afford it and we aren't ready yet."
I understood this to be a wise decision and well thought out.
"How do you feel about abortion?"
Morally neither one of us really believed in it. It was murder plan and simple. I knew this was not an easy decision. Her boyfriend saw this as the only choice as he didn't have the financial resourses . She had an appointment made to make sure it wasn.t too late for the following Friday. I was secretly hoping it was too late but was willing to respect her decision either way. She didn't want to kill her dad with the news--either way he may have a problem with it but more so if she ended it. Grandparenthood he'd adjust too. I knew this much about him as he fought the prolife battle when Heather was just little.
In her heart of hearts I could see this was a very hard decision for her to make. Rob was trying to support her dilemma.
